The Schmidt family had a vision to start an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church in Powell, Wyoming. After attending several churches in the area, they saw a need for a church that would hold to the fundamental doctrines the church was founded on when the church began in Acts Chapter 2. It seems in our day that the church is being infiltrated with the world and its philosophy. Their vision was not to have a 21st Century church, but hold to the 1st Century church of old.

The Schmidt family began to pray with the Kiser family about the possibility of starting an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church in Powell. After considering this for about one year, the two families began to have meetings together to begin this work. All the preliminary details were worked out and Charity Baptist Church was formed.

Charity Baptist Church had its first official church meeting on December 4, 2011. The first church members were voted in, the church constitution was approved, and the first pastor, Kevin Schmidt was voted in, along with the churches first deacon, Kurt Kiser.

If you are looking for a church that preaches and teaches the sound truth of the Word of God and worships our God as Redeemer and Saviour this is the place for you. We do not sing contemporary Christian music in our services, but hold to the rich Hymns of our fathers.

We are a small, warm loving group of saints who desire to have fellowship and grow together while we wait our Lord’s soon return.
